The Waymaker Project
We miss you guys!!!

During this time apart, we’ve hit several learning curves with the worship team, but it seems that each week we mesh a little more.  Most likely as soon as we get really good at it, we’ll be back to live services, and it’ll just be another tool in our bag of tricks.

Naturally we miss the church building and the routine of sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, but more than anything, we miss the people that make up the Bear Creek Family.

With that in mind, we ask for your help.

What’s involved?

Our hope is to get everyone in the church to record themselves performing Waymaker.  PLEASE CONTINUE READING

We know what you’re thinking:
“Nope. Not Me.”
“I can’t sing.”
“I sing like a blood hound”
“I’m not sure that is my spiritual gift. In fact, I’m sure it’s not.  Is there a shovel I can use or something?”

The beauty of a choir setting with more and more people is that “bad singers” can blend with “good singers” and create a beautiful noise to the human ear. But even those who struggle still create a beautiful sound to God when they worship Him.  And isn’t that the only thing that really matters?

Plus, the more people we have participating, it out video will look less like this:
and more like this:

Have no fear. We will be doing the Michael W. Smith version, not the 28-minute marathons you may see on YouTube. And even if you just want to commit to the last verse, that’s ok. If you’d like to just go that route, the last chorus starts at 5:45 of the instructional video.

Instructional Video

What do I do?

The process is simple. The video to the left is an instructional video that’s easy to follow. Watch it all the way through to get an idea of what we’re doing. Mike sings all the way through the instructional video to keep us all together.

Then do the following:
1. Listen to the video with headphones on one device (or computer) while recording on another.
2. Upload it to Dropbox or Google photos (or Google Drive) and share it
3. To share the email load, we’re asking Youth to share your video with Chad (chad@bearcreek.cc) and Adults to share their video with Taylor (t.d.cathey@hotmail.com)
4. Use the tip sheet below for recording
5. Recordings must be received by Saturday, May 23 at 8pm.

That’s it! We’ll do the rest!

TIPS:

  • All submissions must be received by Thursday, May 21 at 8pm.
  • You can just sing the melody. However, if you’re confident singing harmony, go for it.
  • Start early stop late.  If you’re recording the whole song, start your recording before the music starts. If you’re only recording a portion of the song, Start your recording early too. Also don’t stop your video till after the sample video is done.
  • Frame your video like a driver’s license. Those with instruments naturally should have their instruments in view.
  • Watch your video before you send it. Does it look fuzzy?  Can you hear yourself? Does it sound like you are in a coffee can?
  • Record where you want. In your car, bedroom, living room, backyard, boat, forest
  • Don’t wait until the last minute. If you wait to record until Thursday afternoon, you could run into issues… or possibly just be having a bad day… that could prevent you from sending in your file.
