Today's Passage: Jeremiah 22-23
These two chapters continue Jeremiah's verbal condemnation of Judah. Chapter 22 contains Jeremiah's final 3 messages against the Kings of Judah. Then in chapter 23 we find God's message about the King that will replace all Kings, and Jeremiah's 10th sermon which is directed specifically toward Judah's false prophets.
When I read the first 8 verses of chapter 23 I can't help but imagine God being the cosmic boss that approaches the lazy and self-serving worker to discuss why he is being let go. None of us want to be told by the boss that we just aren't doing the job we were hired for. This should stir up our feelings about our responsibility to what God has entrusted to us. Our money, job, spouse, kids, house, car, friends, etc. All of these things are blessings and just like the leaders of God's people if we are not diligent in managing them responsibly then God may need to take them back to get our attention.
