Today's Passage: Psalm 128 & 129
"Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways!" This phrase summarizes our first passage beautifully. The message is simple: follow the Lord and you will be blessed.
At first glance, the second chapter we read seems contrary to the first. It speaks about the affliction of the nation Israel. The most blessed people to walk the earth chosen by the most holy God and yet, they were being "plowed upon."
There is so much that we can learn from the history of the Jewish people but one thing that we can derive from this is that no matter how far they turned from God and how hard the consequences were, God was still faithful to them. Here, we see Him shaming the wicked, cutting their cords, and justifying His beloved.
Inevitably we will endure great affliction because we live in a fallen and broken world. However, we find rest and safety in the arms of our Father and when we are in that place, the enemy cannot not prevail.
