Today's Passage: Acts 18

I love what we learn about Apollos here toward the end of this chapter.  He was a young believer but very enthusiastic about his faith.  He knew a lot about scripture and although he didn't have the total picture about Jesus he was willing to speak up for the truth.  We also see that Priscilla and Aquila recognized these attributes in Apollos and seized the opportunity to disciple him more.

There are two traits modeled in these verses that we as believer should make a part of our lives.  First is Apollos' "fervor" as the NIV puts it.  God wants to change people's lives through us but if we are reserve with our words then we are fare less useable.  There truly is no greater joy than to see God move in a persons life and humbly know how your obedience to God was used to make it happen.

The second trait was Priscilla and Aquila's willingness to disciple Apollos.  They weren't paid church workers they simply saw an enthusiastic believer that wanted to learn.  There are opportunities just like this awaiting any of us that are willing to give their time.  You don't have to know it all to disciple and it's ok to learn while you disciple.  Learning something well enough to teach it often blesses us with a better understanding of the subject.

Try adding one of these traits to your week and see how God blesses you.
