Today's Passage: Romans 2

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23) Now, we haven't reached that verse quite yet on our trek through the bible but it came to mind while reading Romans 2. Our judgement is stained and imperfect unlike the righteous and warranted judgement of God. However, how often do we cast that disapproving look on someone or speak loosely about their life-choices? How often do we compare our lives with others and justify our actions because we're not as bad as so-and-so? ALL HAVE FALLEN SHORT!!!

I encourage you to examine chapter 2 a little closer and with that, examine your heart a little closer. This should be our daily task as we practice our faith. When we line up our hearts with what the scripture has for us, God continually draws us nearer to Him.

"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."
James 4:8

My prayers are with you as you and I both undertake this task through the help and strength of the power of the Holy Spirit.

It is so true, we as fallible humans tend to pass judgment on others. We are critical of other people and we ourselves walk with our chests puffed up as though if we are concidered righteous in Gods Holy eyes for the things we do. Scripture makes it clear that we are not to judge outside the church, rather within in the sense of holding each other accountable in the lives we live. It is odd, yet true that when many judge including myself we tend to judge others on things we may do. Everyone likes to sit in the pews of a church and hear a convicting sermon and think of others in the midst of it. For example someone might say "you tell them pastor" or "I sure wish my brother was here to hear this". It is never for us!
Laura, I know what you said, but it is a good post. Really it is. :) Looking foward to next wendsday.
