Today's Passage: Proverbs 16 - 17
Proverbs overflows with applicable wisdom. This may be just a drop in the bucket of truth, but how refreshing it is to our perspective.
"The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. Commit your work to the Lord, and you plans will be established."
We make plans according to the desires of our hearts but the tongue that spoke us into existence determines their outcome. God designed us for planning and preparing and dreaming. These are all good and acceptable but when our spirit is acting according to the will of God and when we are abiding in Him, our actions gain their weight in worth. The Lord establishes the plans that we make because those plans are His heart too.
In this there is no boasting. If we succeed, it is because He purposed it. If we fail, that too He purposed (16:4).
"I am the vine; and you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5
