Today's Passage: Esther 7-8
What is worth fighting for? Your family? Your co-workers? I'm sure most of us have groups of people that we would fight for (literally and figuratively). But would you fight for Bear Creek? For some that is a difficult question. Those who only could be labeled 'consumers' at Bear Creek would likely never go to bat for the church in difficult times. However, those who are 'investors' would certainly fight for what is right and continue on through difficult times at Bear Creek.
This is exactly what happens in Esther 7-8. Esther pleads for the Jewish people to be freed. The pleads of Esther are heard and taken seriously by way of the king's orders. Esther defended the 'community of faith,' which is in essence the local church. Esther did for the Jews as we should do for Bear Creek. Passion, sorrow, and geniune love are all part and parcel of participating in a community of faith (i.e. Bear Creek). Just for repetition sake, I'll repeat my question for earlier...Would you fight for, defend, deeply love, and participate in the life of Bear Creek? To be clear, this has nothing to do with programs. This has everything to do with loving people. Bear Creek has grown and experienced God's love in many ways. I pray 2010 is filled with great love for one another at Bear Creek so that outisders know what the love of Christ looks like!
