Today's Passage: Zechariah 9-12

Starting here in chapter 9 through the end of his book Zechariah turns his prophetic focus on the events of Christ's first and second coming.  Chapters 9-11 as we read today hold many Messianic prophecies that we can match up with stories in the gospels.   Zechariah's primary focus however was not foretelling the coming of Christ but instead to give God's people hope and reassurance that God had a plan and a future for them.  When I read these verses it almost sounded silly to me that anyone might doubt God's plan.  Then I began to think about all the skeptics and doubters of the book of Revelation.  To us the book of Revelation is confusing and in some ways incomprehensible, but I'm sure that after the events that are described in those verses happen.  We will look back and say "Wow that worked out exactly like God said it would.  Why did we ever doubt Him?"

The bottom line is God told us how Jesus was going to come and what He was going to do, and that is exactly what happened.  God doesn't make hollow promises or idle threats, His word is His word.  So as we near the end of our two year journey through the Bible I hope one of the things that God has made clear to you is His word is truth and even though it may be confusing and hard to understand at times it has continued to be proven correct.
