Today's Passage: Matthew 16

We still don't get it!  Or at least not all the time.  The big picture that Jesus is trying to paint for us in this passage is that everything is in God's control, not ours.  We often think like Peter and declare that we won't let something happen only to find out later that we couldn't have stopped it even if we had tried.  Then at other times we think like the Pharisees and Sadducees by asking God for a sign when He has already made his truth known.

The only thing we are in total control of in this life is our reaction to the changes that come our way.  One of the most valuable lessons we can learn as a believer is to put our total trust in God's plan for our life.

Life changes, God's will doesn't.  If you live every day striving to know God's plan for your life.  Then no matter what changes happen in life you will be at the front of that change and have total assurance that it is for your good (Jeremiah 29:11).
