Today's Passage: Acts 15

There is such freedom and peace in this passage. Knowing that we are not bound by the Old Testament law but free in Jesus Christ is a great yoke off the shoulders of a Christian. But so often we put the yoke of the law upon ourselves and upon others. Yes, we should obey the laws that God has given us and not only that but, they should be our delight (Psalms 1) and a guide to us in the darkness of this world! However, we cannot delight in the law if we take on too much to the point where we either break up or give up. We are indeed weak and God knows this and that's why he said, "Take My yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:29-30)

So what does this all mean? Simply that we should lay down our pride (yes, pride), give over our feeble attempts for self-righteousness and draw from the strength and holiness of Jesus Christ. Stop striving on your own!!! Humble yourself and seek the Lord in prayer and fasting. Ask Him for strength, ask Him to reveal your sin, ask Him to change your heart, and ask Him to give rest to your soul. He is faithful in the fulfillment of your salvation and still ever faithful in the perfecting of your walk with Him.
