Today's Passage: John 18

The exchange between Jesus and Pilate at the end of this chapter is in my opinion one of the most important verses for ministering to our current culture.

All you have to do is watch the evening news or listen to the fictional problems on a sitcom and you will hear it.  The opinion that there is no such thing as absolute truth.  What exactly do I mean?  Well take for instance any of  these topics: Sex before marriage,  under age drinking,  movie ratings and music.  If you were to have 100 people from different age groups give you their opinions on these four topics you would probably get 100 different answers.  Each one of those people would most likely be of the mind that their opinion is the correct one or the truth.  Hence Pilate's question "What is truth?".  Jesus declares to have come to "testify to the truth".

So what does this all mean?  The truth that most people cling to is based on their own ability to interpret the information that have.  We all know that someone with a little information interprets things differently than someone with a lot.  The less information about a situation you have the easier it is to make it better fit you.  Jesus on the other hand has ALL the information about everything.  His words ARE the truth He even goes as far as to say so, "I am the way, the TRUTH and the life..."

The only way for us to 100% know whether something is true or not is to test it.  This is not to say test God but instead with an open heart commit to seek God not for your own gain but for clarity about this world.  I guaranty He will show you because He loves every single one of us.  That is truth.
