Today's Passage: John 4
We studied the story of the Samaritan woman not too long ago in our Sunday morning growth groups. This story although filled with cultural precedence from Jesus' time is one of our best examples of how the gospel changes lives.
Jesus isn't on a planned evangelism outing He is merely seeking to quench His human thirst, and finds Himself interacting with a woman struggling with the consequences of her choices in life. Jesus offers the truth of who He is and the freedom and peace associated with accepting Him. Afterward the Samaritan woman is awestruck and so overjoyed that she runs back to town to share what she has learned.
This story is not a fluke occurrence or something that only Jesus could pull off. We are all often seeking to quench our own thirst and find ourselves surrounded by people. The question is do we even acknowledge there might be hurting people sitting right next to us that could benefit from hearing the gospel? I encourage you this week to live outside your bubble and when you are out at a restaurant or the grocery store to be on the look out for people that are hurting. Strike up a conversation with them. Who knows you might get the chance to share why you have peace and hope in this uncertain world.
That's evangelizing like Jesus.
