Today's Passage:  Hebrews 10

This is a beautiful chapter, and I especially like the "let us" section of verses 19-25.  The author of Hebrews has spend 9+ chapters helping us understand the depth and beauty of what Jesus has done for us, but now he's showing us what our response to Jesus should be.  "Therefore," the author says, "because Jesus is our high priest...because of the great work of the cross...because we are forgiven forever, then we should change our actions.  We should have a response to the great gift of salvation."

So what, then, should we do in response?  He gives us for specifics:

Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart.  His great love for us should be reflected and returned by a strong and sincere desire to be near to Him.

- Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we possess.  We don't have to worry if Jesus is really who He says He is...or that what He's done can be taken away at some point.  We can grab on to hope and never let go!

Let us spur on one another toward love and good deeds.  We need to be about the business of encouragement.  How can our actions and words bring someone else closer to God?

Let us not give up meeting together.  We honor the high priest Jesus by joining together in worship.  We spur each other on through Bible study and prayer.  We unite around the hope we possess.  Being together as a family in Christ is very important!

How are you responding to the great hope of Christ?  Spend some time today looking at the "let us" statements and see if you are honoring His sacrifice through your actions.
