Today's Passage:  John 9

Have you ever felt sorry for someone?  Most of us have.  One thing I love to do every morning is to watch the news.  Inevitably, each morning there is at least one segment that talks about the perseverance of someone who has a physical ailment.  I'm left thinking, "Man, I really feel sorry for that person."  After reading John 9, I am reminded that pity is not exactly the most appropriate response when coming across those with physical ailments.

In this Scripture we meet a man who was born blind.  The religious leaders thought they had Jesus pinned in a corner by asking the reason the man was blind.  Jesus' comment certainly took them aback and gives readers today a large and healthy view of God himself.  Jesus shows the reason for the blindness was so that he would be an example of how God could work in his life.

Some would call God an unfair and unloving God because this man was born blind.  We often miss how amazing our God is and how he can work in the lives of people.  Instead of feeling sorry for those who are not "normal" we should look a bit closer to see how God may use any person for his glory.  This passage is a reminder of how great and loving our God is.
