Today's Passage: Romans 9
If you were to draw a box on a chalkboard representing all the knowledge currently in the universe (that is, everything that is a known truth to any human being), wouldn't the area outside the box represent truths still undiscovered? No matter how much we know, there is always more still to be understood.
In today's passage, Paul talks about Israel's rejection of Christ but also reminds us that the Lord is still the Most High, the Only. He does not need to give a reason for what He does and whom He chooses. To many it is difficult that the Father brought a Savior through the Jews and most of them rejected him, while Gentiles (non-Jews) were being set free by the Gospel. Paul's point throughout is that we are saved by faith and not the law.
When we do not understand what God is doing, it requires us to trust that He knows what He is doing. It requires us to become comfortable with the ambiguity that while we cannot know everything, He does. And He knows not just every truth from the past, He knows everything that will ever be.
If you are trusting Him, you are free. Today's prayer for you: that you will be given faith to trust in Him and His purposes for those things you cannot yet see.
