Today's Passage: Psalms 137-139
What gives purpose to your life? Is it the material things in life? Is it a certain position? Maybe it could be a certain type of lifestyle? Really, the better question is, "Who gives you purpose to your life?" While certainly we can all say our family and friends. However, can we say that God gives us purpose to live this life? I hope you can confidently say that today.
Psalm 138 ends with the bold statement of God fulfilling His purpose in David. Think about that. If God is going to fulfill His purpose in David, then obviously God has a purpose for David. What is the purpose of David's life? Well, in a general sense it would be to love God by following His ways.
How does David often show his love for God? Seen just in these few chapters, it is through praise and song. God is the one who knows everything. It is God who takes care of David. It is God who in turn takes care of us! This is the God we serve. I hope we praise God the way David praises Him.
