Today's Passage: Leviticus 15

How peculiar are you? Do you stand out from your worldly surroundings or are you a spiritual version of "Where's Waldo" in your community?

In today's chapter, one could get the impression that it was nearly impossible to remain "clean" unless one didn't really live.  It reads (like so much of Leviticus) as the endless list of things that separate us from God... and makes clear what the apostle Paul said that the law serves to show us our sin (Romans 7:7).

Rather, it was (and is) important that the people of God separate themselves from the uncleanness around them. By these laws the children of Israel were taught their privilege and honor, that they were intended by Him to be a peculiar people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation; for that was a defilement to them which was not so to others.

The bar has been set high for God's people, because it is important that there truly be a difference between us and the world. It is easy to appear good; but goodness will not get one to Heaven. Standing out in the right way starts with kneeling down and asking Him to show you His plan for you each and every day. When we focus on Him, we will be lifted up. It is a glory none of us can fake, and others will not fail to see in you.
