Today's Passage: Job 21
Anytime two children spend time with one another, there inevitably comes a point when one child tells the parent or authoritarian about the selfishness of the other child. The parent or authoritarian then lays down a judgment. Invariably, both the children usually walk away from the situation whining, "Well that's not fair!" The situation we find Job in is similar to opening story of the two children. He does not understand why the evil atheists of his day seem to be living the good life and he, an ethical God follower, is suffering and seeing much destruction.
Have you ever played the "Well it's not fair" game with God? I know I sure have. I am sure you already guessed what I am about to say, that the whine game is not worthy of a congratulations. Truly, God works in his way within this world and we always need to be aware of that. We do not control the world. However, we do control the we act and react! Many times I have been in situations that would be considered "less than desirable." Every time this happens I have an opportunity to make the most of it or simple to whine. In a very adult way, I hope you are not whining about life after reading today's passage. Your life may be rough, but I do not know if I have met anyone with the pain and suffering of Job. While you may even have good reasons to whine, today take time to be thankful for what you have and make the most of it.
