Today's Passage: Acts 12
Have you ever been in a really dull prayer meeting? You know the type of meeting where you think even God is bored listening in during the meeting. If you cannot relate then consider yourself fortunate. While sometimes our perspective of a group praying may be that of a boring meeting where people name off more body parts than an anatomy and physiology class to pray for, we should think more optimistically of the purpose, joy, and passion of prayer groups.
When Peter finds himself in prison with an almost certain move toward death via the king's orders, it is then the people pray earnestly. What was the result of the prayers? God intervenes by way of an angel. Peter owed his life, in a way, to the church who prayed for him. Can the same be said of Bear Creek? When a crisis arises I hope we do our best to pray earnestly and fervently for the need at hand. The church of the first century sure did and God answered. We serve the same God and he will do the same if we unite for a true cause and plead to the Father! Today let's spend time praying for those we know who are hurting or in tough situations in which they need the comfort and peace of God.
