Today's Passage: Matthew 15
It's so easy to look at some of the Gospel stories and wonder why the disciples didn't "get it" when it seems so obvious. Perhaps the apostles deserve some credit for penning the accounts as they did, which clearly show their lack of faith time and time again. How many of us would be willing to put that out there for perpetuity?
Jesus had so recently fed the 5,000, walked on water, healed a multitude of sick, and when He tells His disciples He does not want to send the multitudes away hungry, they talk as if the grocery store is closed and there is nothing they can do (Matthew 15:33).
Truly, we can't point a finger. We do the same thing every day. The God of the universe does something amazing in our heart and life, and we are faint of heart within hours when the next small trial comes along. We decide it is either too small for His notice or too big for Him to do for some imperfect person like ourselves.
Thank Jesus for His unconditional kindness to us, for He knows we are weak. Ask Him to help you trust Him so deep you are like the disciples writing the gospels... you recognize the unbelief as something in the past.
