Today's Passage: Psalm 130-131

I've been thinking a lot lately about God's mercy. Why does he choose to bless me in the way he does? My life is great. Sure, there are things that are not wonderful and bad things still happen. But over all, my life is really great. God's mercy on my life is really something that has caused me to stop and think. I have spent a lot of time thanking God for the merciful blessings he pours over me. Then I read these chapters today and the author is crying out for mercy, yet he knows that God will come through. He says that God will redeem us from sin. I love the confidence in his words. He waits for the Lord and hopes in him and he knows that this is a worthwhile cause because God will in fact redeem him.

It is interesting to me that in the next chapter, the author says that he is not concerned with things that are too great and compares himself to a child. He knows that God is in control and even implores the people to put their hope in God. Why worry about the small things when you know God is in control? That is a message I should meditate on all day, every day. However, if I am confident in the mercy of the Lord and know that he is in control of my life, what is there to worry about?
