Today's Passage: 3 John
A personal note... Here John writes to Gaius, a brother in Christ, and shares encouragement, news, and exhortation. John concludes by saying there's just too much to write about, he'll have to see him in person. These windows into the fellowship of the early church are encouraging and inspiring!
Our faith is personal, our relationship with Jesus is personal...unfortunately our relationship with each other (in the body of Christ) is often times not very personal. This is one area I believe God is calling us to be counter-cultural. Whether people admit it or not, advancements in technology and communications are not "keeping us connected," as they like to say. Rather they are building a virtual wall of networks, software, and status updates around each one of us. We need more physical community, not virtual community!
