Today's Passage: Genesis 5
Psalm 127: 3 "Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him."
The same Psalm also describes them as, "arrows in the hands of a warrior." Families are such a wonderful blessing and there is so much coming against them in this world. There has never been a more crucial time for men (especially fathers) to make some counter cultural decisions for our families. And the most important one is to change our focus. The messages about family we get in mainstream entertainment are increasingly negative. Whether dramatic or funny, they focus on all the stress and problems of family life. Admittedly, there is stress in family life, but we don't need to feed our minds with things that keep us defeated and beat down. We need to focus on the goodness of God and all the blessings He has given us. Thanksgiving is just over a month away; why don't we all write a list of 10 or so things that we love and appreciate about our families!
