Today's Passage: 1 Chronicles 19-20

Have you ever noticed there is no getting rid of ant beds?  This is the most annoying part of taking care of my yard.  I kill one and it pops up somewhere else!  It is a constant battle.  Because of Israel's sin, God allowed their enemies, like the Philistines, to continue to pop-up, fight and oppress them.  In this particular occurrence, David was facing one of his first enemies, the descendants of Goliath.  This descendant had 24 fingers and toes (sounds intimidating)!  One of David's faithful men, Jonathan, killed him.  David and his army went on to defeat them.

Do you have any "ant beds" that keep popping up in your life?  Have you ever faced an enemy (maybe a bully) more than once?  What about your spiritual life?  Are there sins that keep popping back up that you have defeated time and time again?  God told Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness."  Jesus told His disciples many times in John 14-15, "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."  God has provided ways to deal with the ant beds in our lives.  We must strive to live in obedience to Him and rest in His grace when it is tough.  A friend of mine once said, "Grace works hard!"  I say, "AMEN!"
