Today's Passage: 1 Corinthians 3

It seems like we are more of a self centered society than ever before.  Schools, careers, families, it all comes back to Y-O-U!  How is it going to affect you?  How do they meet your needs?  How can they best benefit you?  A current commercial for an online college demonstrates the severity of the issue.  "It's time for university to adapt to you, rather than you adapt to it, " it says.  Can you imagine if we took that to the farthest degree?  The commericial finishes by eloquently saying , "it's your time." Really? The Bible says, "...What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." (James 4:14)

That commercial  is just one example of the "wisdom of this world"(verse 19) we see in 2010.   It 's not your time, it's God's time!   Verse 9 says, "For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building."  He says later in verse 16, "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?"  Those of us who are believers in Christ should understand this the most.  However, the fact that Paul is writing this to the church is proof that we don't always live according to what we should understand as Christians.  Paul could have easily written this to the church of 2010.  We too are guilty of self centered wisdom living, even though verse 19 clearly says this wisdom , "is foolishness in God's sight."  Lord, help us have an eternal Christ like perspective on our lives!  Give us true wisdom!  Help us remember the words of a recent VBS song, "It ALL comes back to JESUS!"
