Today's Passage: Psalm 116-118

As I read these three Psalms, I can think of 4 songs immediately that come from them.

"I Love the Lord": Whitney Houston & the Georgia Mass Choir  Psalm 116: 1-2
"Be At Rest": Steve Green  Psalm 116:7-8
"Forever": Chris Tomlin  Psalm 118
"This is the Day": chorus  Psalm 118:24

Some may be more familiar than others; I encourage you to Google the ones you don't know.  This gets me thinking...I wonder how many songs have been written from this book of the Bible over time...  there is no telling!  Perhaps more intriguing is what makes musicians, secular as well as Christian, use these texts over and over again.  Is it because of its renown as world class literature? Is it the poetry?  Is it the meter, the rhyme?  I believe that it is the fact that the truth of this precious book of the Bible is so compelling, so engrossing, so captivating,  that composers, writers, and readers cannot get away from it.  "For His lovingkindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord is everlasting. Praise the Lord!" (117:2)
