Today's passage: Acts 11

"The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch."   Are you familiar with what the word, "Christian" actually means?  It is literally translated, "little Christ." This speaks volumes about who they were and were perceived to be by those who surrounded them.  This group of believers were known by their love for each other and the lost.  In the time following Pentecost the only concern was telling the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah.  Consequently, there was no priority to share the good news with the Gentiles.  That is until  the group of believers at Antioch, who were among the first to take take the news of Jesus to them.  Are there any metaphorical Gentiles in our world today--people we are unwilling to take the gospel to or to share the love of Christ with? Are we known for our love and Christ likeness?  Of course, before we can answer this for a group of us, we have to ask ourselves this question.  Am I exhibiting the love of Christ?  Am I concerned with spreading the Gospel in word and action to those around me? If we would commit to taking responsibility for our own Christ like behavior (or lack thereof) we would see revival, we would see lives changed, we would see God glorified in ways we have never seen before.
