Today's Passage: Leviticus 13

Sin Spreads Like Disease and Mildew

There are so many spiritual and physical applications to this passage.  In primitive times, it would be obvious that in order to survive you would have to isolate disease to keep it from infecting the entire camp.  It would follow that you would have to destroy anything with potential germ filled mildew before it spread throughout the house.  But there's more to it than that.  This was God's holy nation, a people set apart for Him.  It is God's perfection that requires the eradicating of disease, mildew, sin, and impurity.   We are also God's holy nation, a people set apart for Him (1 Peter 2:9).  We also must then be vigilant in destroying the disease of sin and the mildew of self centeredness. We are His!  We are to give Him glory and even the slightest bit of "mildew" in our lives hinders our witness.  Oswald Chambers refers to each of us as a mirror that reflects God's glory.  He says, "Beware of anything that would spot or tarnish that mirror in you."  So let's be detailed, thorough (dare I say OCD?) about getting rid of the disease of sin in our lives so that we will shine brighter for Him.
