Today's Passage: Job 32-33

Have you ever had someone talk to you for their own good?  They're talking about things that involve you; they're talking to you, but you get the feeling it's all about them. Maybe they are speaking a certain amount of truth, but they've completely missed the big picture. Elihu's dialogue in this passage is a prime example of this very thing.

Let's be careful if we find ourselves saying or even thinking the words of Elihu, "I too will have my say; I too will tell what I know...I must speak and find relief; I must open my lips and reply." (32:17, 20)  Too many times we want to share our wisdom and knowledge out of pride, perhaps even claiming (all too confidently) that we have this word from the Spirit.  Wisdom is from God. Wisdom begins with the fear of God.   When we talk like this it doesn't show much reverence for God or much of His wisdom.  Proverbs 29:20
