Today's Passage: Philippians 4
Do you remember that "Which one of these is not like the others?" game from when you were a kid? Well, if we played that game with the following words: anxiousness, prayer, peace, thanksgiving, which "one of these just isn't the same?" Can you say, "anxiousness"? I knew you could! Prayer, thanksgiving, and peace are all parts of and evidence of an intimate relationship with God. Anxiousness is a sign that we might not be walking as closely with God as we once did before. I think of the words of the hymn, "In the Garden": "And He walks with me and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own. And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known." It is important to note that no matter how close we may be in our relationship with God, there will always be the things that make us anxious from time to time. However, the practice of this passage keeps us from having to live in day after day after day anxiousness. May we all experience, "the peace of God, which transcends all understanding..."
