Today's Passage: Psalms 57-59
Exodus 14:14 says, "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." In these three chapters, David is doing exactly that...he is hiding in a cave, praying that God will rescue him from the injustice of Saul's attempts on his life. David was trying his best to serve God and do his will, even to the point of not killing Saul when he had the chance. So now he cries out to God and asks for God to be the God he is.
What kind of God is God? He is a God full of mercy, especially for those who turn to Him. He is a God of faithfulness, even when we can't see how His hand is working. He is a God of justice in a world of injustice. He is a God of great strength, even when we are at our weakest point. How many times should we just be still and let God be God...let God fight for us?
That verse in Exodus 14? The next thing God does is part the Red Sea and defeat the powerful Egyptian army. Be still and know that He is God!
