Today's Passage: Psalms 143-145
When I was in youth ministry, one of the things youth speakers often said to students was, "The church is always one generation away from extinction." It was always a call to action for the students, reminding them that their generation would be the next one responsible for making sure the name of Christ was not only carried to the ends of the earth, but to make sure that they did not stray so far away from God's word that the church simply ceased to exist.
Psalm 145 tells us, "One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts." The passage goes on to tell us what acts will be spoken of...slow to anger, abounding in love, the glory of His majesty, the power of His works, how He cares for His people...the list goes on and on! There are so many things that we can personally tell about just how good God is and how much He loves us. It's so important not just to be grateful, but to teach our children...and not just the stories of the Bible, but how those stories have impacted us personally. We must speak to the next generation and tell them how God is personal...how He loves me specifically and how He helps me live life every day.
Today, take some time to share with the next generation just how good God is...you're giving them a foundation that will not be shaken!
