Today's Passage: 2 Corinthians 10
"Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord." - 2 Corinthians 2:17
We've all known people in our lives who enjoyed telling others about how great they were...even if they had to embellish a little! You've heard me use the Terrell Owens quote many times on Sunday mornings - "I loves me some me!" In all walks of life...in every profession (including ministry)...in every school/church/club, there is someone who loves them some them.
There were people accusing Paul of loving him some him. He was telling them of the mighty works God had done in their ministry and the ministry of others, but some of the people thought he was simply trying to build himself up in their eyes. Paul, however, had another agenda...he wanted to build up the power of the Holy Spirit and the work of Christ in the world. He was "boasting", but only to bring glory to the one who truly accomplishes mighty things in this world.
Paul wanted people to know what God had done in him and in others...do you have a story to tell as well? Our God is worthy of praise, worthy of thanks, and worthy to have His story told to others so that they, too, can experience the power of the Holy Spirit working in them!
