Today's Passage:  Acts 7

It seems like such a simple question, but it is as loaded as they come:  "Are these charges true?"  Stephen knew what they were really asking..."Who are you going to side with?"  "You know what we did to Jesus, right?  We can do the same to you!"  "This is your chance to take it all back if you know what's good for you!"  Stephen knew what was riding on his answer, but instead of saving himself, he chose to spoke the truth.

And what a truth he spoke!  Can you imagine standing in front of these people that have the power to take your life and saying the things he says in verses 51-53?  He cuts right to the heart of the matter...once again, God's people are siding against God.  The truth he spoke would cost him his life.

The next time we are faced with a loaded question...one in which people want us to side against God, against the truth so that they feel better about who they are...will we have the courage of Stephen to stand for what is right?  It may not cost us our lives, but it could cost us socially, financially, or politically.  Are any of those things worth standing with those who would stand against God?
