Today's Passage: Job 9-10
Have you ever been angry with God? I would imagine that all of us have been there at some point...something happens that just doesn't make sense and it really, really hurts. Isn't God supposed to keep us from things like that? Why is it that we suffer..even those of us that call out to Him and try to live our lives following His word?
These are the questions that Job is asking today. Why, God? Why me? Why now? What have I done? But even in the middle of his anguish, he understands that God doesn't owe him an explanation for the events that have transpired.
Look at verses 14-15 again in chapter 9. Job asks a very important question: How can we argue with God? Can we really look at the creator of the universe and tell Him how things would go? Job says, "Even if I'm innocent...what can I do but ask for his mercy?"
It sounds so simple, but do you know why we can trust God even when it doesn't make sense? Because we know His character. We know He is a father who loves us. We know He wants things to work out for our benefit when we love and obey Him. We trust who God is, and therefore we can trust that what happens is never out of His control.
Tough stuff...to trust God even when life is crumbling around us. But we can trust!
