Today's Passage:  Luke 24

"Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"--Luke 24:32 

I love the ending of the story of the road to Emmaus.  Can you imagine...you and your buddy are walking down the road, talking about the extraordinary things you had seen and heard, when a stranger joins your conversation.  You can't believe that this person hasn't heard about Jesus, but you are more than willing to tell him what you know.  Then, all of the sudden, He is the one who begins telling you what you really need to know.  You long to know more...so much that you urge this stranger to stay with you...and then, all of the sudden, you see clearly.  Jesus has been with you all along!

I can think back to times in my life when I thought I knew what was going on, only to have Jesus, through the power of His word, speak truth to me.  I know when He begins to change me from the inside out.  Just like these men, it's as if my soul begins to burn within me...I am in the presence of the Spirit of God!  All of the sudden, things are clear.

My prayer for you today is that the Word of God will burn in you.  May you see clearly the truth of Jesus in this world and strive for His perfect will!
