The vision of Bear Creek is a simple one: Real People. One Purpose. God’s Power. But what does that simple phrase mean, and how is it acted out in the life of our church?
First, we want to be real people with each other and the world. We are not here to play churchy games, where people are judged by what they’ve done or how they dress. We realize that all of us are a mess spiritually without the hope of Jesus Christ, and that all of us, at one time or another, have done things that are against God. So we try to be real about our struggles and shortcomings, hoping that together we can find strength in Christ to live lives worthy of the calling we have received as Christians. You don’t have to be perfect to come to Bear Creek… instead, we find our hope in the perfect one, Jesus Christ.
And because our hope is in Christ, our one purpose is to know Christ and make Him known in our neighborhoods, our community, and the world. We want to know Christ personally and deeply so that He is transforming us from the inside out. And the more deeply we fall in love with Him, the more we desire to love the world the way that He does…to share the hope, joy, and peace we have in our hearts with those who are hurting and struggling to find hope in this world.
As we seek to love Christ and those He loves, we want to do it all in God’s power…we unashamedly ask God to see things that only He can do! We want to be so in tune with the power of the Holy Spirit that we are united with Him in His work in our lives and community. We believe that God can do exceedingly more than we ask or imagine!
