Four local churches…Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Trinity Baptist Church in Benbrook, First Baptist Church, Cleburne, and Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury…along with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, the Paluxy Baptist Association and the Tarrant Baptist Association, decided to plant a new Kingdom work on the 377 corridor in 2002. This partnership called Brett Lester to be its pastor in November of 2002, and Bear Creek Community Church began to build a plant team on February 1, 2003. Twenty-six individuals were the founding members of Bear Creek when the first public service was held on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003.

Bear Creek has grown from those 26 people to a thriving, growing congregation that reaches families in not only the Cresson and Bear Creek areas, but Aledo, Benbrook, Cleburne and Granbury as well. This growth led the church to purchase 6 acres directly across from their first location, a rented office building, in December of 2006. Construction of the current campus began in the Fall of 2007, and the first service was held June 1, 2008. This 8000 sq. ft. facility allows the church to continue to focus on the whole family…preschoolers, children, students, and adults…while providing for growth in worship services.

From the first day until now, our vision and purpose remain the same…we want to reach those who have no hope with the life-changing hope that only Christ can give.
