Today's Passage: Lamentations 1-2

The Lamentations of Jeremiah is such a sad book.  Jeremiah has just watched the city of Jerusalem get destroyed and is now left behind to walk the streets that he so passionately loved.  If you have siblings you have probably found yourself in a similar yet less severe situation.  We all love our siblings, some maybe more than others, and we have probably all found ourselves in the situation where a sibling is choosing to do something that you know your parents disapprove of.  So you do what every sibling does you say something like "Hey I don't think you should do that..." and of course your sibling responds the same way all siblings respond "Shut up and mind your own business..."  Then eventually the truth comes out and your parents have to enforce a punishment on your sibling and you go and hide so that none of the punishment overflows onto you.  Then when you come back to interact with everyone you kind of feel like your in the twilight zone.  You want to guard your words so as not to excite the "law givers", but you really want to know when everything will be go to normal.

When we are blessed with knowledge from the Lord it is our responsibility to share that with everyone.  Especially those who are struggling in that specific area.  We must also not get discouraged when we or others find ourselves in the middle of ruin.  God is always in control and available for us to turn to.  We will see more of this when we read Lamentations 3 on Wednesday.
