Today's Passage: Psalms 60-62
All three of these Psalms are great. The titles for them in my NASB Bible are (60) A Prayer for Deliverance of the Nation, (61) A Prayer When Overwhelmed, and (62) Wait for God.
Since we have been talking about waiting for God so much in Brett's sermon series I thought it would be best to focus on Psalm 62. I am a little bit of a control freak, as I'm sure many of you can relate. It is difficult for me to stand by while I feel there are things that need to be done. However this often is accompanied by frustration when the matter at hand is something that rests solely in God's hands. This Psalm beautifully describes why, with multiple examples, we should have peace in waiting on God. David writes in much more eloquent word that we must not trust in other, our authority, or our wealth more than we trust in God. For there are two attributes of God that should spur us to trust in Him alone. Those are His power (strength) and His loving-kindness. There is nothing in creation that can match our God's power or love for us. So the next time you are feeling frustrated about the progress of a situation. Go to God in prayer and trust in His power and love for you. There is no telling what He will be able to do through your heart of obedience and trust.
