Today's Passage: Psalms 21-22
"Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" these are the last recorded words of Jesus before He died on the cross. In English they read "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" The interesting fact that we discover today is that they were first recorded by King David in Psalm 22 almost 1000 years before they came from Jesus' lips. There are a great number messianic prophecies or prophecies of the messiah found throughout the book of Psalms, five of which are found here in Psalm 22:
Prophecy Fulfillment
Psalm 22:1 Matthew 27:46
Psalm 22:7, 8 Matthew 27:39, 43
Psalm 22:17 John 19:37
Psalm 22:18 Matthew 27:35
Psalm 22:22 Matthew 4:23
It is so fascinating to me the amount of truth God has blessed us with about the future. In a time when we all feel uncertain in some way about our future. It is so reassuring to read even more evidence that God has a plan for all of us and he has been working it out with perfection for thousands of years. Just that thought fills me with love and thanksgiving beyond word.
Amen?
