Today's Passage: 1 Corinthians 15
What a moving passage! I was asked by one of our students not to long ago: What makes Christianity any different than other world religions? I must be honest, I asked this very same question when I began searching for what I believed about God. Many people today are still living in this cosmic limbo of believing that all religions are just different paths to the same finish line. This passage clearly explains that there is truly only one way.
While seeking the answer to the previous question for myself I once had it described to me in this way: The thing that makes Christianity different from other religions is... Christianity isn't really a religion. You see a religion is a set of rules that if followed closely enough will gain the follower acceptance into the final destination (I.E. Heaven). Christianity however, while it still has rules the real act that grants you passage into heaven is not made by the individual follower. It was made by Jesus, when He was resurrected. None of the other world religions claim that their deity was killed in mortal flesh to then be resurrected and return to the place from where they came. In doing this Jesus made the way for us to enter into heaven. This path could only have been made by Christ and is open to all that believe in Him.
The simplest truths about Jesus' resurrection are what makes Christianity different and also prove that following Jesus is the only true way to enter heaven and spend the rest of eternity with God.
