Today's Passage: Revelation 22
Imagine for a moment that prayer was like calling Heaven. This time, an answering machine picks up: "We're sorry, but prayer requests are no longer being accepted. The kingdom has now been consummated. Your fate is sealed."
As the last chapter of the New Testament, Revelation 22 describes the river of life, warns all not to add to or take away from the words of Scripture, and most of all admonishes that Jesus is coming quickly.
Anyone who has been a Christian for any length of time (and perhaps even more who haven't) have given pause to the idea of "quickly"...after all, we're all still here and waiting, right?
While it might not be on our personal timeline, the time will come, whether it be from our own passing or His return, that all opportunity for change will be past. Those who are unjust will remain unjust; those who are filthy will remain filthy; those who are holy will be holy still (Revelation 22:11).
Jesus wants us to live urgently. Not anxiously, but urgently... getting the most out of every day as if it were our last on earth...remaining ready at all times.
If Jesus Christ is not yet your personal Saviour, you are approaching a deadline. Literally, if it passes, you will be dead forever. Don't postpone the best thing you will ever do.
