Today's Passage: Nehemiah 10

This passage gets me excited because it is a time when every member of God's people were completely committed to His commands.  It's a challenge for me to imagine all believers, from all age groups, all socioeconomic backgrounds, all races, all different levels of education, united in every way and solely focused on obedience to God.  In our current society, the idea of every believer living single mindedly for Christ is sadly nothing more that... an idea.  However, I absolutely believe it is possible. To get there though, it's going to take a very serious commitment from each of us to make it our way of life.

So where do we start?  First we start in our families, we have the most positive influence among the people we live with every day.  Next we expand to our church, by starting conversations and confirming that we are all on the same page in our obedience to God.  After that, as a church we must go out into our work places and to the people we see every day and have conversations with everyone.  From the people we see at the store or when we drop of the kids at school.  It will only be then that we begin to see the effects of God's people being truly unified.  Maybe then as Christians we won't have to put up with all of the bad press and hollow accusations.  Maybe then Christmas could be celebrated for it's real purpose.  Maybe then when people see believers they are drawn to them instead of steering clear of them.

Imagine what the world would be like if when people looked at us they saw our wonderful and amazing father in heaven.  So lets do our part to gain unification in the body of believers.
