Today's Passage:  1 Corinthians 2

One of the first questions people usually ask when talking about evangelism is "What would I say?"  Our culture is driven by persuasive people who can win arguments...even, sometimes, when they know they are wrong.  We feel like we've got to be ready to answer any question so convincingly that the hope of Jesus is an open and shut case for the listener.

But here's Paul...one of, if not the, most effective missionaries in history....saying that he didn't get ready to share by making sure he had all the right words to say.  He wasn't as concerned about what he said as he was sharing who had changed his life.  He believed that the power of the Holy Spirit working in him would be so evident that the Spirit would do any convincing necessary.

What if instead of worrying about our words so much (and it is important to know scripture to be able to share), we concentrated the majority of our time on walking with Christ?  What if we allowed the power of the Holy Spirit to be so strong and evident in our lives that people couldn't help but see that Jesus is alive and can bring them hope?

St. Francis once said, "Preach the gospel always.  If necessary, use words."  May we live a life of obedience that will always be preaching the gospel wherever we go!
