Today's Passage:  Job 24

The theme of Job 24...and the book of Job overall...is so prevalent throughout the Old Testament.  Just last Sunday I preached a similar passage in Malachi that asked, "Where is the God of justice?"  In my personal scripture time this week, I've been reading in Psalms where the righteous cry out for justice as the wicked prosper.  And here today we have Job, who asks, "Why does the Almighty not set times for judgment?  Why must those who know him look in vain for such days?"

It is difficult to watch those who stand against God and his ways prosper all around us while we deny ourselves to be more like Him.  The problem we have is that we measure things like "success" and "happiness" by the world's standards while trying to live by God's standards.  The two have polar opposite results!

When we are serving God, we're going to be living in His blessings.  That probably won't translate to worldly success, but it always means eternal success.  The things of this world will pass away, but the treasures of heaven will never fade.

The next time you are frustrated with how things "really are"...who's standards are you using?  Living by God's standards but judging by man's will lead to nothing but more frustration.
