Today's Passage: Job 30
I believe many of us have at some point in our lives cried out the very words of verse 20: "I cry out to you, O God, but you do not answer; I stand up, but you merely look at me." We may not have used those words, but we usually say something similar to Job's cry here. "God, I keep praying, but you don't answer." "God, I'm drowning here and you don't seem to care." "God, when are you going to get me out of this?"
It's one of the toughest places to be in faith...when you are hurting so much and it seems like God doesn't even care. But we know through scripture that God does care. Our circumstances may be very difficult, but God cares. We may feel like He isn't listening, but God cares. We may feel all alone, but God cares. Over and over in scripture we learn that God cares so much for His children.
So where is the disconnect? Why do we feel this way? It's so easy to let our feelings overwhelm our minds. We feel like He doesn't care, so we convince ourselves it's true. We don't know why God may not be answering our prayers immediately or the way we want Him to, but we know that He always hears and answers for the good of those who love Him.
We may feel one way, but we know the truth. May we rest in His truth today and not our feelings!
