Today's passage: Exodus 2

This is a story that I love to read.  It is familiar and also scary when you think of a King who would be so afraid of another race that he would order the death of every infant male.  It scares me that anyone would come up with an idea so sickening just to try and alleviate his fears.  Fortunately, God had a plan for Moses, and the Pharaoh's own daughter was the instrument that God used to save his from certain death.  Moses grows up as royalty.  He knows that he is Hebrew and loves his people.  He even kills an Egyptian soldier because he is abusing some Hebrew men.  This causes him to flee to a land where he finds his wife and starts a family.  Eventually, God will speak to him and he will find his true calling.  This is the basis for the book of Exodus.

I am a person who believes that everything happens for a reason.  This is probably why I love this story.  It shows that each part of his life, terrible and good was needed for Moses to become the person God needed him to be.  None of us will go through life without setbacks and sadness if we are fortunate to live long enough.  I believe God has a plan for me.  It may not seem as important as what Moses did in his life, but it might be just as important in God’s eyes.  I may never know why I was put here until I meet with our savior in Heaven.  I just pray that I don’t miss any steps so I can be the instrument God needs me to be.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28

Great chapter and a great blog post. It makes me want to watch "The Prince of Egypt."
