Today's Passage:  John 15

Have you ever been in a blackout?  A few months ago we lost power for the majority of a day.  You really don't stop to think how many things in your house need power until you don't have it.  We'd find ourselves wanting to eat, but afraid to open the fridge so the food wouldn't spoil.  Forget watching t.v. or listening to the radio...or checking email...or even reading a book (it's hard to hold a flashlight and read!).  And when my cell phone ran out of battery, forget talking to the outside world.  We couldn't even open the garage door without disconnecting it from the opener.  Just about everything we do is connected to outside power.

Why, then, would we try to live our lives disconnected from the real power source?  Jesus tells us that He is the source of all things good..He's the source for abundant life.  He promises us in verse 5 that if we remain connected to Him and obey His will for our lives, we will bear much fruit in this world!  But if we don't, we "can do nothing."  Nothing works, nothing feels right, nothing bears fruit...there's no power for all we need to accomplish.

It's our choice...connect to the power source or live in the dark.  Which one makes sense to you?
