Today's Passage:  Psalms 66-67

"Shout with joy to God, all the earth!"  What a great passage to read on Good Friday!

The psalmist was certainly skilled in describing the reasons to praise God.  We should praise Him for His power and might.  We should praise Him for the wonder of His creation.  We should praise Him for His justice and mercy.  We should praise Him that He listens to us.

But for all the things the psalmist praises God for, he did not know what we know...that the greatest praise is for the unbelievable gift of Jesus Christ and that death has been conquered forever!  The psalmist did not know that many years ago on this day, the Savior of the World would suffer so that we might live. 

The psalmist gives us many reasons to praise...but we praise today because of the Cross!  "Shout with joy to God, all the earth!" Sin has lost its power!  Death has lost its sting!
